JAY RARE Proves He’s 'Built Different' in Debut EP [EP Review]

As I found out that entrepreneur, producer, and now artist JAY RARE was about to release a project, I went to check out other work just to see that he had 17 monthly listeners and no music released. A week later, I checked out his debut project, Built Different EP, and I was in awe of how professionally sounding and catchy every song was.

Usually artists' first bodies of work aren’t anything noteworthy, but Jay Rare already has the elements to make a smash hit, and I have found myself listening to this more than anything recently. It isn’t just JAY RARE who shines, as Keyan’7e’s melodies are just as elegant.

The first track, “Built Different,” is the perfect introduction to the Northern California native’s creative abilities with hard hitting 808s and energetic flows. “Tesla” is my personal favorite with latin-esque horns tucked in the background with bouncy drum patterns making for a perfect club song. The outro, “Investors,” is another example of something that belongs on the charts. The track makes me want to invest in JAY RARE’s sure-to-be long career.

Again, it’s his debut project and he’s already put together an incredible project with groovy production from the likes of Donn Robb and songwriting that speaks true to what makes him so talented outside of music.
