Hip-hop artists Johan Lenox and RMR have collaborated once more to bring us a genre-challenging and heart wrenching version of their 2022 release “No One Gets Me.” With a reimagining that highlights both artists’ dynamic performance, this new record is so emotion-provoking you can probably expect to ugly cry.

This new version thrives in its balance between the simple and complex. Carried by a single piano track, Johan and RMR’s powerful vocals are supported by a stunning strings section. Lenox, a skilled composer that often features stringed instruments in his work, utilizes his abilities by putting together intricate melodies with a chamber string orchestra. All in all, the two rising stars deliver their lyrics with passion over a poetically written arrangement that challenges what it means to be a hip hop artist.

Lenox and RMR grew close while working in the studio to produce Johan’s debut album “WDYWTBWYGU.” The two are expected to release a music video for the track in tandem with its release. Johan plans to continue his impressive run, as he is expected to be on tour with Riz La Vie in early 2023. His debut album has now amassed well over 6 million streams, while RMR’s breakout hit “DEALER,” featuring Future and Lil Baby just crossed 21 million streams.

Lenox and RMR’s futures are bright. This new release displays their versatility and willingness to stray away from the mainstream, a move that separates artists from mere entertainers, and I hope they continue to collaborate together for years to come.
