Brooklyn indie-pop artist, Middle Part, comes together with their first single of the year with the potent, “Harley.”
The track is reminiscent of 90s alternative music with dreamy guitars that makes me feel like I am in a cloud in outer space. Their delayed and reverbed vocals match the atmosphere of the guitar which brings together an overall tasteful listening experience.
The concept of the track is what Middle Part describes as, ”a tortured artist daydreaming about a simple and complacent life. [‘Harley’’s] message touches on my struggle with being unable to provide myself with any normalcy. The refrain is that no matter how much I want this other thing [complacency], subconsciously, I’m not going to slow down or stop what I’m doing because art feeds me, and is the only thing I know how to do well.”
It’s a beautiful track that only makes me more excited for more. It leaves me intrigued for what they bring sonically in the future.
