It's a bit unexplainable but the satisfaction from playing that right song at the right time is a fix unlike any other. The Braymores have satisfied this urge for me times ten with their new project Who You’d Have Been, and I would like to explain to you exactly how they made me feel this way.
The band is comprised of long-time childhood friends Matt Tilles (lead vocals/guitar), Keegan Melaniphy (lead guitar), Wyatt Prather (bass), and Russell Oren (drums) — who fittingly named their band “The Braymores” as an ode to the childhood street they grew up on together.
This album is filled to the brim with raw emotion and undeniably catchy choruses. Serving as the perfect indie rock soundtrack for those moments when you’re looking for a bit more vulnerability or even just a feel-good song for a feel-good moment. They establish their vibe throughout the whole project with incredible guitar riffs and build-ups that hit just the right pocket to make you bob your head to the melody. A personal favorite for me was track #3 “Faken” which is a blissful track that makes you forget everything else going on in the world.
I have been blessed enough to live in Chicago where this band is from and where they often play live, so I’ve seen them play twice now at Reggies Rock Club. The first time was on the bar stage, and the most recent time they moved up to the venue stage to celebrate their album release. Both times I was absolutely blown away – thinking about the night days after the show ended. They sound just as amazing live as they do through your headphones, and I highly recommend taking the opportunity to attend their next show if you have the chance.
This group is incredibly hard-working and it's been amazing to watch them grow in the city of Chicago which holds a really special place in my heart. Along with the work of the band, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention their hard-working manager Shane Becker who randomly DM’d me about the band about a year ago. The whole team is extremely talented, and they are working on something special that you can dive into for yourself at the link below.
