Friends Theme Song, “I’ll Be There for You” Streamed Over 137 Million Times

The Friends theme song, “I’ll Be There for You” has now been streamed over 137 million times in the past few days. This iconic piece by The Rembrandts has become one of the most popular songs to stream after the trailer of the Friends reunion special entitled "Friends: The Reunion" dropped on May 19th. This streaming information has been released by Spotify, which is the music service provider that has been tracking listening activity since the trailer of the Friends reunion special episode premiered. In addition to the Friends theme song, the “Smelly Cat” song from Friends has also reached around 1.5 million streams.

Both of these tracks are part of the Friends special reunion episode, giving some indication as to the nostalgia around the reunion episode in general. A slowed-down version of “I’ll Be There for You” was played in the background as the Friends cast members hugged each other and relived moments from Friends episodes. The song, “Smelly Cat,” sung by Lisa Kudrow was played on the episode, however, this time, she was joined by Lady Gaga in singing the iconic song.
