Rod Wave Was Almost on Drake's "Lemon Pepper Freestyle"

Rod Wave is making waves in the industry, with his 2021 album SoulFly expecting to debut No. 1 on the charts next week. With hits like "Rags2Riches" and "Heart On Ice," Rod has the game in his palms. So much so, that he can reject a feature opportunity from... Drake? Well, not exactly.

During an interview with Apple Music's "The Plug Radio," Rod said, “I was supposed to be on [‘Lemon Pepper Freestyle’], but I didn’t like how my verse came out. So I kind of scratched it.” The rapper-singer got cold feet, which is understandable, since Lemon Pepper Freestyle is already over 40 million Spotify streams with the assistance of Ricky Rozay. A Drake feature is no small feat, so Rod Wave wanted to come correct, and nothing less.

Although Rod only has one feature on his new 19-song project, he's not opposed to collaboration. In the same Plug Radio interview, he mentioned wanting to work with the likes of Ed Sheeran, and Adele: two of the biggest names in today's industry. I can speak for everyone when I say we would also love a Rod Wave / Drake collaboration, but there's no need to rush perfection. We're ready when you guys are.
