It’s moments like these that make me forever grateful I began writing, or I would’ve never found poptropicaslutz!. There is absolutely 0 doubt in my mind that their show in New York City this Tuesday was the best show I’ve ever seen.

Unfortunately I missed one of the two openers, bixby, because the train got delayed. However I couldn’t help but overhear people raving about his set, and someone showed me a video of his incredible cover of Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone” – which would turn out not to be the only cover of the night.

While I wasn’t too familiar with the second opener, torr, prior to the show, I certainly am going to be now. He got the crowd going crazy, especially during his cover of “You Belong With Me” by Taylor Swift. He didn’t stop smiling throughout his entire set, even previewing an unreleased song which sounded incredible – I can’t wait for it to come out.

Last but not least, poptropicaslutz! put on a show like no other. It was nonstop energy, constant moshing unlike anything I’d ever experienced. From the duo jumping into the crowd to their producer/live bass player aldrch nearly hitting his head on the venue ceiling, their set was electric. They performed songs from all over their discography, from “Hollywood High 16” to an assortment of songs from their recent debut EP just in case the world ends, including “WW3,” “this might be our last december,” and “Hysteria is impossible without an audience.” It’s no exaggeration when I say every single person in the venue knew all the words to every song - it was truly incredible to witness. I don’t think I’ve ever had as much fun at a concert than at this one.

Listen to poptropicaslutz! new EP below, and definitely make sure to catch them if they come to your city.
