THE WHALES Welcome Summer Early on “Hunned Racks”

Patience, though a virtue, is overrated. As anticipation builds for the warmer, more enjoyable months of the year, animated music group THE WHALES deliver a cornerstone track for your playlists of the approaching seasons. With the recruitment of MadeinTYO and Tkay Maidza, “Hunned Racks” revels in leisure, an easy listen with endless replay value. With enough G-funk to remain vibrant, TYO and Maidza play to their strengths of flexing and taunting. The former even takes time in his verse for a sly shout-out to the group masterminding the single: “You know I’m down with The Whales, I be by the sand.” The sped-up version of the track manages to pack the energy of the original in a shorter run-time, which is of no consequence when the song is on repeat.

THE WHALES have been flaunting their talents across their past releases, and “Hunned Racks” unveils their full potential in star-studded fashion. In 2023, the group made their debut alongside KYLE with “Uncut Gems,” which received its own sped-up version as well as a remix with British DJ and producer Seb Wildblood. THE WHALES’ story has developed past reality – through their perspective, band members Ricky & Nico reside in the fictional underwater city of Los Aquales (based on 2050 Los Angeles), where the polar ice caps have melted, humans have fled to Mars on Elon’s ships, and Whales now rule the world. If their next releases is anything like their past few, THE WHALES supremacy may be coming quicker than Ricky & Nico currently imagine it.
