There’s nothing I love more in music than real, authentic teenage angst – and 93FEETOFSMOKE delivers that in his latest single, “NIGHTMARE (feat. guardin).” 2022 is turning out to be a massive year for the Richmond, VA native, who is currently on tour and rolling out an album.

Most people can relate to the feeling of missing somebody, so in that way, the song is a classic heartbreaker. It’s something you might hear from Machine Gun Kelly or MOD SUN, and the aggression is hard to match. Its passionate vocals, captivating song structure, and heavy breakdown at the end all add to the song’s energy and make it one of my favorite punk tracks of the year.

The feature from “i think you’re really cool” singer, guardin, fits the mood perfectly. guardin’s voice is instantly recognizable, and the beat switches when he comes in to match his more mellow, acoustic vibe. This isn’t overly relevant, but his aesthetic always reminds me of Oli Sykes of British screamo band, Bring Me The Horizon.

The track was one of many collabs with friend and producer Aaron Osborne, who recently signed to 257 Records. The chemistry between the two is undeniable, and there’s more coming. Osborne produced the majority of 93’s upcoming album, GOOD GRIEF, set to release in July.

93 started his music career in the underground emo rap scene, but has since leaned into a more polished “pop punk” sound. Over the years he’s continued to develop his writing abilities and as you’ll hear in this song, guitar skills. Now signed to Photo Finish Records, he’s a full-fledged rockstar, and I can’t wait to see what’s next for him.

Keep an eye out for 93FEETOFSMOKE’s upcoming single, “TOOTHPASTE,” and an album coming soon. In the meantime, check out his latest track, “NIGHTMARE (feat. guardin)” below.
