If I had to label Nashon’s music with the fate of the universe in my hands, I don’t think I could. One of the most creative new artists I have stumbled across recently just dropped his song, “a million messages,” and it highlights exactly why he can’t be put in a box.

The production has derivatives of hip-hop with thumping bass lines and hints of lofi pop, but I don’t think it would make sense to give him a genre because he takes inspiration from so many. His vocals are dreamy on this new release and the chorus has been stuck in my head ever since it was released. “Dance inside my head and let the monsters in the bottle come and tear me to shreds. Dance inside my head and I'll pretend that you called and told me you would be home late,” is one of many examples of the raw nature of his delivery and songwriting.

I love artists that are authentic to their sound and put the extra effort into making something idiosyncratic. It is music that will have people jumping while also being something you can listen to alone when you need to be lifted up. Nashon has barely scratched the surface of what is to come in his career, as this is just his second song to release on DSPs and follows “love counts” which is just as appreciable. Nashon is only getting started and he is creating his own wave right now so I’d tap in before he is a superstar.
