Though supply and demand are not always congruent in music, fans do have the influence to pressure an artist to produce more music. If thuy’s music is anything, it's in demand: her 2021 EP has accumulated over 50 million streams since its October release, with her monthly listeners surpassing the million mark. The project, titled i hope u see this, ironically caught the attention of listeners worldwide, placing her firmly in the pop/R&B soundscape. A Vietnamese-American singer and songwriter from the Bay Area, thuy is honestly reflective across the EP. Themes include heartbreak, love, empowerment, and self-confidence.

Following the project’s success, thuy has released a deluxe version of i hope u see this in an effort to satisfy fans’ hunger for more music. Five new tracks have been added to the tracklist, including two additional features to previous songs. Christian Kuria, P-Lo, and Destiny Rogers are late additions to the guest list that previously hosted names like DCMBR and John Concepcion. The gesture of the deluxe release is an indicator that thuy is looking to strike while the iron is hot, releasing music when her fan base is at its current high. With no shortage of satisfyingly feathery vocals and vulnerable songwriting, it's fair to say that the demand for thuy has yet to peak.
