Rap artist, TOBi, is back with a stunning new track titled “Someone I Knew” with a 50 year old sample (“How much longer ‘til we’re free?”) akin to a Kendrick Lamar track and a smooth flow like JID. TOBi cites this song as one of the most important songs he’s ever done. The rapper is not a stranger to rhythmic and captivating flows most noted in “Off The Drugs” ft. Mick Jenkins, “Woah” ft. Jazz Cartier, “Flatline” ft. Kenny Mason, and “Flowers.”

TOBi’s proves to be a chilling story teller with memorable lyrics (Where were you when the towers fell?/ I was 7 sitting at home. Auntie busted the door in a frenzy… Where were you when you first heard a gun?/ I was 5 / playing hide and seek in my parents room / went under the bed, perfect spot for me to hide.”) “Someone I Knew” is an impactful track that showcases a new side to TOBi with narratives that paint a vivid picture of historical events and how he’s coped with the trauma of it all.
