Many are familiar with popular TV show, Saturday Night Live. Yesterday, viewers were surprised when famous rapper, Kid Cudi, made an appearance on the show rocking a floral dress, where he sang a couple songs from his newest album, Man on the Moon III: The Chosen. Cudi performed his first song, “Tequila Shots” with a custom t-shirt exhibiting a photograph of Chris Farley, dedicated to the late Saturday Night Live cast member. He then changed into a second outfit, a white floral dress with spaghetti straps to perform his second song, “Sad People.”

Kid Cudi’s bold fashion choice was a dauntless statement and broke social norms. Not only was it striking in general, but audiences have pointed out that his second fashion selection for his performance was most likely a tribute to Kurt Cobain. Side-by-side pictures were posted comparing Kurt Cobain’s outfits to Cudi’s from SNL. The anniversary of Cobain’s passing was this past week – he passed away on April 5th, 1994. Cudi not only performed a couple of his latest musical hits on the show, but he also joined the SNL cast for a comical sketch about their love of flutes. Check out the skit below.
