Just in time for Pride month, Story Slaughter drops a single titled  "Not My Jesus.”  A former Texas resident, she now resides in Los Angeles. She attended the University of Southern California and performed in many professional films as an aspiring actress. In the wake of the pandemic, she pivoted her creative efforts towards music. In November 2020, Story released her debut single “Ranch Water.” The year 2022 proved to be a pivotal one for Story as she garnered attention for her talent. She had the opportunity to perform in four featured shows at SXSW (South by Southwest). Continuing her creative journey, she is preparing to release her debut EP titled "Spaghetti Western" in 2023.

"Not My Jesus" holds great significance for Story as it represents her own statement of faith. Story mentions that it is the most personal song she has ever written. She says, “I tell the story of my friend coming out to me - and how she was scared to because of my faith. But I believe that Jesus loves everyone, no matter your sexuality or background. It's a delicate, easy-to-listen to, hazy lullaby of a song.”  By sharing this personal narrative, she aims to inspire others to embrace love, compassion, and acceptance, even in the face of potential conflicts between faith and identity. She encourages listeners to break down barriers and create a more inclusive society through her honesty and vulnerability.
